Job Overview
The Legal, Compliance, and Policy Organization (LCPO) at Intuit, the parent company to QuickBooks, TurboTax, Mailchimp, and Credit Karma, is looking for an academically strong and highly motivated 2L or 3L law student to serve as an intern in the Fall of 2026 and help further Intuit’s mission to power prosperity around the world for consumers and businesses. LCPO supports numerous practice areas for Intuit and its global operations, including privacy, artificial intelligence, commercial and corporate transactions, product innovation, marketing, legal and regulatory compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, employment, litigation & IP. Students are assigned projects designed to expose them to the breadth of in-house counsel roles.
The student will develop practical skills through hands-on experience with in-house legal matters, including gaining proficiency in leveraging technology and AI tools to enable the work. This exposure will foster a comprehensive understanding of core business operations and smart risk taking using legal and compliance analysis on strategic and daily decision-making. The extern will work under the supervision of an LCPO attorney and will meet regularly with their supervisor for guidance and individualized feedback. The supervisor will also review student-drafted goals and evaluate performance at the middle and end of the semester.
The externship requires a commitment of 12–20 hours per week for a duration of 12–14 weeks.Intuit operates with a hybrid work environment. The team is typically in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with Thursday designated as the anchor day for the department. The office is located in Mountain View, with easy access to public transportation (train, buses.)
This is a paid externship.
Responsibilities
Potential projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Partnering with innovative product teams to help ensure that our products are structured to achieve our strategy while complying with applicable global laws and regulations.
- Collaborating with the legal team and business units in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, customer technology transactions, terms of service, marketing agreements, and non disclosure agreements.
- Partnering with the business and other legal team members to identify and resolve key legal business matters.
- Researching various legal issues and industry practices and providing guidance and recommendations.
- Reviewing, developing and implementing processes relevant to regulatory compliance obligations.
- Researching and communicating through memos and presentations applicable global legal, regulatory and legislative changes.
- Collaborating with many other teams to understand and provide analysis of compliance and legal obligations.
- Assisting the Compliance team for framework build outs, enhancements, and documentation of the processes end-to-end.
- Conducting testing and documentation of necessary compliance controls.
- Participating in other key legal and compliance priorities and special projects, both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications
The candidate should have the following qualifications:
- Academically strong and highly motivated 2L or 3L student.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, collaboration skills, and attention to detail without losing the big picture.
- Ability to partner with legal and non-legal personnel.
- Ability and interest in learning new processes, leveraging technology & innovation and discovering and advocating improvements for legal review and procedures.
Preferred but not required:
- Experience in technology sector

Pay offered is based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and work location. To drive ongoing fair pay for employees, Intuit conducts regular comparisons across categories of ethnicity and gender. The expected base pay for this position is: $63.44-$68.32 / hour.
