We are seeking a visionary Applied AI & Machine Learning Leader who is passionate about driving innovation in healthcare through both traditional machine learning and generative AI.

As the Applied AI & Machine Learning Leader, you will be the driving force behind our AI strategy, leading a talented team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers to develop and implement advanced AI solutions that address complex healthcare challenges. You will support both customer solutions and product/platform development efforts and will have to have the ability to prioritize and drive execution with a globally distributed team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Visionary Leadership: Define and execute the AI strategy that aligns with our business goals and customer priorities, focusing on both traditional ML applications and generative AI innovations in healthcare.
• Innovative Solutions: Lead the development of advanced AI models and algorithms that enhance clinical decision-making, patient engagement, and operational efficiency.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the leadership and sales teams in understanding the priorities and help create a vision and roadmap for AI and ML.
• Customer Focus: Work closely with customer Data and AI teams to help align their AI Vision by providing key insights and guidance on best practices, product roadmap and other deep dives. Engage in day-to-day customer deployments to ensure timely delivery of ML features and model enhancements.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product managers, healthcare professionals, and engineering teams to identify opportunities for AI integration and ensure solutions meet user needs and regulatory standards.
• Mentorship & Development: Foster a culture of learning and innovation by mentoring team members, providing guidance on best practices in AI and machine learning, and promoting continuous professional development.
• Research & Development: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, conducting research to identify new applications of AI that can be leveraged to improve healthcare delivery.
• Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and KPIs to evaluate the performance of AI models, ensuring they deliver meaningful insights and outcomes in real-world healthcare settings.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex AI concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in across the organization.
• Ethical AI Practices: Advocate for responsible AI use, ensuring that all solutions are developed with ethical considerations and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA)

Must-have Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in applied machine learning, with a strong focus on both traditional ML techniques and generative AI.
• Deep expertise in both traditional machine learning/NLP and generative AI will be crucial in shaping our product offerings and ensuring that we remain at the cutting edge of technology in the industry.
• Startup or scale-up experience in being able to work in a fast-paced environment, without compromising the quality of output
• Expertise in a variety of machine learning frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) and hands-on proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R.
• Expertise in a variety of GenAI tools and frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Llamaindex, Ollama) including the application of various patterns around Q & A and information retrieval domains.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and innovative solutions.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering high output with cross-functional teams.
• Very strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven experience in the healthcare industry, with a deep understanding of healthcare data, workflows, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with cloud-based AI services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and familiarity with deploying AI solutions in production environments.
• Knowledge of GPU Technologies: Demonstrated expertise in utilizing GPU architectures for accelerating machine learning and AI model training and inference, with experience in various cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their GPU offerings.
• Experience working with open-source LLMs and evaluation frameworks such as Ragas.
• Knowledge of ethical AI practices and frameworks for ensuring fairness, accountability, and transparency in AI applications.
• A passion for healthcare innovation and a desire to make a meaningful impact on patient care and outcomes.
