Assurely is looking for a passionate insurance operator.

Assurely’s VP, Insurance Operations will thrive on high-expectations, efficient execution, and attention to detail. If you have the ability to manage the daily demands of blending patience and urgency, the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into a prioritized roadmap, and a track-record of execution, please read on.

You will own the prioritization and execution of the company's insurance operations. Your biggest responsibility making sure all insurance functions of the company are in sync. You will act as an enabler of the business yet be able to able to apply a commanding yet empathetic presence and discipline to project management. You will be a crucial piece of the connective tissue between the growth, engineering, and insurance teams. You will be working in a fast-paced, exciting startup environment, with all the perks and challenges of said environment.

Requirements

  • 5 + yrs work in the operations of commercial insurance (operations, product analyst/management, underwriting operations, client administration, etc)

  • Proven track record of identifying, scoping, and executing on business requirements without compromising speed nor accuracy

  • Experience with policy management systems, billing systems, and underwriting desks

  • Ability to communicate fluently both in insurance and technology

  • Ability to fill operational gaps in a pinch

  • Strong project management skills

  • Preference for software and technology

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary liaison between the insurance and underwriting business unit(s) and the product and engineering teams

  • Work cross-functionally with Underwriting, Business, Compliance, Product Management and claims teams to develop, define, and document business needs and requirements and ensure that they are executed

  • Interface with compliance, surplus lines tax, regulatory and licensing, accounting/finance functions and vendors as needed

  • Evaluate the need and subsequently manage a solution to incorporate onshore, offshore and/or other manual process support as needed

  • Contribute to building and/or adapting processes to launch new products inclusive of incorporating rate and form changes

    • Create specs, templates, and repeatable processes for insurance product implementation:

      • Infrastructure, Raters, Forms, UW Rules, Claims pursuant to instructions provided (with your input) from the company’s Chief Insurance Officer

  • Ongoing underwriting desk management

  • Contribute and/or coordinate responses for required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to our insurance carrier partners and regulators as required by our contracts and regulatory requirements

  • Frequently collaborate with internal legal, compliance, engineering, and business functions on compliance investigations and drive the resolution process

  • Provide consistent engineering feedback and support for product launches, new features, and validating insurance requirements

  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities

  • Identify and translate/negotiate business requirements with Engineering development opportunities/constraints

  • Evaluate external vendors, in conjunction with product and engineering, to most efficiently address business needs and requirements and ensure that they are executed

    • Policy Management software

    • Surplus lines vendor(s)

    • Digital application vendor(s)

    • Licensing vendor(s)

  • Manage internal document organization in AWS and the company digital storage systems

  • Provide administrative and technical support to client-facing as needed
